The most interesting thing in american idol season 10 is when Wilson Kissed Her Boyfriend. Who'da thunk that Tyler was such a softie? Of course, it was funny watching him scold Randy for calling someone a bad singer and then turning around and doing essentially the same thing himself a few minutes later.

And is J Lo really the only one that is hearing the auditions? The boys really let some marginal contestants through. Then again, from the edits the overall talent level is way down even from last year's record mediocrity.

Hats off to the production team, though. The little piano tickling during McCaffery's package had us looking for the right thing. And the sound effects as Younique's number fell off during the judges critique and the freeze frame and record screech when Wilson kissed her boyfriend were flat out hilarious.

We wonder if a toned down version of Miley Cyrus will give us more water cooler talk than a racey Miley Cyrus.

It was the year of the choir as Justin Bieber and Katy Perry both accessorized their performances with soulful back up singers.

Marriage agrees with Katy Perry because she has never looked more beautiful or confident.

Detroit was up in the house representing country rock with a stellar and surprisingly soft and beautiful vocal by Kid Rock. The normally gruff rocker went mellow with his new single Times LIke These. The list keeps going with American legends Bon Jovi giving the kids a run for their money with a medley of their current and past hits including It's My Life.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi is the eldest natural child of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. She was born on March 4, 1992 in Palm Springs, California to her mother Tamara Rotolo; a former waitress and later salesperson at a real estate office. Tamara was separated from her husband but not yet divorced when she met Prince Albert while vacationing on the Cote d’Azur.

When Jazmin was born Prince Albert was listed as father on her birth certificate but, the Prince said later, he wanted to keep her paternity secret until she grew up in order that she might have a normal childhood. She also made local news as a soloist in the school choir and once performed with Barry Manilow. She was so taken by Fiji that she set up her own charitable foundation for the relief of the poor there called the Jazmin Fund.

It would have been nice if Jazmin could have grown up without the intrusion of tabloid photographers, being shadowed by a body guard and shuttled around in an armored SUV but such was not the case. Jazmin is currently attending the private Catholic Junipero Serra High School in Orange County.

Here's the prayer I will use on Memorial Day at one of Concord's several town observances of the holiday. Because people of many faiths will be present, I have written the prayer to be as inclusive as possible. On the same day my parish will celebrate Mass in our cemetery praying (in our Catholic voice and ritual) for those who are buried there and for all who have gone before us.

The major networks are stocking up on scripted series: 24 of the 26 new series due this fall are sitcoms and dramas and, all told, 68 are scheduled on the five major networks, up from 61 last fall, when NBC tried Jay Leno five nights a week.

The usual assortment of new shows didn't vary much when networks unveiled their lineups to advertisers this week. Only one extra hour of comedy (on Fox), despite a big push to develop more; plenty of cop, spy and lawyer shows, though fewer risky, heavily serialized dramas.

But networks made a big push to shore up the 10 p.m. ET/PT hour, home to nine of the new series. Three will air head-to-head on Wednesdays, including Law & Order: Los Angeles, which has no completed script or cast. (source)

Travis Garland is no stranger to the music world, after leaving Lubbock, TX when he was just 14 and landing in Los Angeles to pursue an acting career he spent his days auditioning and nights writing music.

A chance meeting with a friend landed him in the boy band NLT and they gained a small, but loyal, following with their Timbaland produced single "She Said, I Said" and a nationwide tour with The Pussycat Dolls.

When the group decided to go their separate ways creatively (band mate Kevin McHale is now on Fox's Glee) Garland hooked up with producer Nate "Danja" Hills (Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears) to record his solo effort.

"American Idol" sent Casey James back to Cool, Texas after the Top 3 results show. Actually, he probably has to stick around Los Angeles since the finale is next week, but it's more fun to pretend like he's amblin' back to the Lonestar state.

The Top 3 results show was a whole lotta chitter-chatter. First we found out how the Idols feel, then we found out how the judges feel. Then we watched the hometown visits. Then a couple teenyboppers bopped around the stage.

But finally the results were upon us and, in no surprise, Casey James was sent home. He's a talented contestant to be sure, but the Crystal-Lee finale has been coming for weeks now. We would've been more surprised if Casey had stayed.

So who you think wins it all next week, gang? Crystal or Lee? We can tell you that Crystal won the pre-taped coin toss -- did she choose to go first or second?

Casey James
Casey's trip showcased his performance less than the other two, but he did get the usual parade and visit to the local news station. Of particular note was Casey's visit to the hospital where he recovered from his near-death accident. As expected, that visit brought a few tears.

Crystal Bowersox
Crystal seemed to have the most fun during her visit. From getting the key to Toledo, Ohio, to having the day named in her honor to playing peek-a-boo with the large crowd from the top of her limo, Crystal soaked it all in. Her package was notably devoid of many tears, but they came in the studio, where she revealed the song she played was an original tune written about her hometown.

Lee DeWyze
Lee's highlights were a nice mix of the previous two. Lee was very emotional when visiting the paint store where he used to work and when performing before a huge crowd, but he also got to have fun (like throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field). Also, did you see all those screaming girls when Lee returned to his school? They just might make the difference in who wins this season.

Before we got results, we were forced to watch a couple of musical performances.

Travis Garland, "Believe"
This kid is a YouTube sensation who apparently owes his fame to Perez Hilton. That should have been the first sign of trouble. The song was poppy enough in a generic way, but Hilton's suggestion that he is better than Justin Timberlake is absurd.

Justin Bieber, "You Smile" and "Baby"
I am not one of the millions who suffers from Bieber Fever, but following Garland, he looked like a musical genius. My complaint about his music is that it sounds so young. Yes, I know he's a teen, but "You Smile" sounds better suited for Barney & Friends than the Billboard charts. Still, the girls in the audience swooned.

Results
Since the show opened with a seemingly endless roundtable discussion with contestants about winning, Ryan Seacrest wasted little time when it came to giving the actual results. I will be equally efficient, mostly because it was inevitable: Casey James was sent home.

Casey was often among my favorites, but it was clear he was never going to win. We'll be hearing about Casey in the future. But it seems nothing could come in the way of a DeWyze-Bowersox finale.

Fans of Justin Bieber will probably really have enjoyed this performance, and it may have pushed Bieber's name out there to an even wider audience than he has been reaching.

It's quite clear that Bieber is here to stay, and that was made even more evident by his performance on American Idol Wednesday night.

The Good Guys TV Show

The Good Guys TV show premiered tonight on Fox right before the American Idol results show and proved itself to be exactly as billed: good stupid fun. The show revolves around two cop characters who apparently are not too good at their jobs, but somehow managed to stumble and fumble their way through solving major cases.

For instance, in the premiere episode, they set out to find a stolen humidifier, and end up solving a major drug trafficking/murder case. The two main characters are played by Colin Hanks (Tom Hanks’ son) and Bradley Whitford. Whitford is of course the bad cop and Hanks is the good cop. Yes, these are stereotypical cop roles, but the slapstick comedy is first rate and fresh, and the entertainment value was off the charts. My whole family laughed out loud several times.

One caveat: the lock-and-load sound followed by a shot that the show uses to transition between scenes got annoying after the third time. Hopefully we won’t see too much of that.

A few years back, Jaden had his first major role, as Will Smith’s son in the tearjerker The Pursuit of Happiness. And Willow Smith had a small part in I Am legend, also alongside her dad.

Up next, Jaden and Willow Smith are set to star together in Amulet, a live action adaptation of an animated comic book series from Japan, which is likewise being produced by the Smith family production company.

Ronnie James Dio Dies At Age 67

The rumors have now been confirmed. Ronnie James Dio died this morning at 7:45am, as confirmed by his wife, Wendy who has posted the following message on Ronnie James Dio's official site and official Facebook page:

“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal... with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. Wendy”

Ronnie James Dio (born Ronald James Padavona) lost his battle with stomach cancer and passed away at age 67. Dio made a name for himself when he fronted the Ritchie Blackmore led band Rainbow, who released their first album in 1975. After leaving Rainbow, Dio was asked to replace Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, to which he agreed. With Black Sabbath, he recorded two highly acclaimed studio albums in the form of "Heaven And Hell" and "The Mob Rules." After leaving Black Sabbath, he formed his own self-titled band and became one of the biggest draws in heavy metal during the 1980s.

Dio briefly reunited with Black Sabbath in the early 1990s, releasing the "Dehumanizer" album before leaving once again to concentrate on his own band. Another reunion with Sabbath followed in 2006, this time under the new moniker, Heaven & Hell, reulting the acclaimed album, "The Devil You Know" in 2009.

Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer late last year and the band recently cancelled their tour dates in Europe as a result of Ronnie's health.

The news of Dio's death has also been reported by Blabbermouth.net, who was in touch with Wendy Dio after the premature reports of his death in the early AM hours.

American Idol 2010 : Lacey Brown is voted off as Kesha

After singing "Ruby Tuesday" Tuesday night, Lacey Brown is saying goodbye once again. The 24-year-old Texan who was cut from the Top 50 last season became the first casualty of American Idol's Top 12 Wednesday night.

Though her performance during Rolling Stones tribute night garnered her first positive reviews since audition week, Brown received the lowest votes of the night, behind Tim Urban and Paige Miles.

The church teacher had a chance to sing for a save but her pitchy rendition of Brandi Carlile's "The Story" only solidified the judges' decision.

During Idol auditions, Brown brought smiles to the judges faces with her jazzy version of "Over the Rainbow," but since then her performances have been lackluster.

The shy contestant who was prodded "like a cow" by her mother to audition could have used some maternal pressure on stage.

Brown spent most of her performances flashing her bright eyes and flirting with the camera, trying to cover her "sleepy" vocals - per Ellen DeGeneres - with pixie dust. It didn't help that she picked songs - like Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me" - by equally cutesy artists.

From the start, Brown always seemed more concerned with the visual side of performance rather than the substance. Even Simon Cowell commented Tuesday that she was over thinking her stage work.

Though it was a sad night for Brown, the results show featured lively guest performances by Ke&ha (singing "Blah Blah Blah"), Orianthi and David Cook, winner of season seven. They provided iron clad evidence that it is possible to hone your vocals as much as your stage presence.

The Miss USA 2010 pageant is one of the most watched shows every year, a main reason, in my opinion, is the swimsuit portion. The contestants not only have to be on their A-game when answering questions but their bodies have to be physically in great shape. The Miss USA contestants seem to do it all: volunteer, get good grades, stay in shape, are intelligent, and beautiful.

Jennifer Lyon, fourth-place finisher on "Survivor: Palau," passed away of breast cancer at the age of 37 in January 2010. She was given a lovely video montage during the "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" live finale show.

Lyon's diagnosis of stage three breast cancer came in 2005. She endured a double mastectomy at the time and then started her chemotherapy.

Austin Carty, a "Survivor: Panama" contestant who dated Lyon in 2007, told US back in January when she passed away that Jenn "was a genuinely selfless, sweet-natured person. She always had a smile. She cared about every person. This has really rocked the 'Survivor' community."

Jenn was an ally of "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" contestant Tom Westman during the Palau season. When the final four vote was split between Jenn and Ian, they went to a fire-building challenge and Ian pulled out the win, leaving Jenn with a 4th-place finish. Jenn's website shows that she has been advocating for breast cancer research since her diagnosis 5 years ago.

Earlier this month, HEAVEN & HELL canceled its summer tour plans in Europe due to Dio's treatment for stomach cancer. The band said in a statement that Dio wasn't "well enough to tour this summer. Coach Mike Brown Hasn't Been Fired

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is holding a press conference and just said coach Mike Brown hasn't been fired. "That's not true," Gilbert said of a Sports Illustrated report, which cited two sources saying Brown was fired. "We are right now going through the evaluation process," Gilbert said. "We're talking to coach Brown, talking to (GM) Danny Ferry, getting all the information."

Gilbert did not, however, assure that Brown will be back as coach. He said several times the franchise would begin an evaluating process and added that, "I don't think it's a secret that head coaching will be one of the things that gets evaluated." Rumors of Brown's firing began to really heat up after Game 5. That was when Gilbert ripped the team's effort.

Brown, the NBA Coach of the Year last season, was 272-138 withe the Cavs but lost in the second round this season and in the conference finals last year. He did take the team to the NBA Finals in 2007 but the team was swept by San Antonio.

The Cavaliers had the best regular season record in the NBA for the past two seasons. It is unclear whether any coaching change will have to do with keeping LeBron James in Cleveland. Some believe a big name coach will help the superstar remain with the team

Friday morning, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill released a press release to announce that they will join several other country and western singers to organize a benefit concert for the victims of flooding that occurred a few weeks ago in Nashville.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill joined the list of singers this morning. The concert, called Nashville Rising will take place June 22 in Nashville. Tickets for the Nashville Rising concert went on sale this morning for $25-$75 and will benefit the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee‘s flood relief work.

The Jamie's House Charter School in Northwest Harris County in the Houston, Texas, went 14 months without realizing one of their teachers had a warrant issued for her arrest. I want to put this in perspective.

Sheri Lynn Davis beat up one of her students, which was caught on a cell phone video camera. I posted the video yesterday, and the rage the teacher showed makes me wonder how in the hell the Jamie House Charter School didn’t catch on there were obviously anger and mental issues with their teacher. Davis obviously had serious issues. All of this could have been avoided had the school known she had an arrest warrant issued for criminal mischief for slashing another woman’s tires.

Davis taught for 14 months with criminal charges filed against her. How does this happen? Obviously, the America’s schools must do a better job of keeping an eye on teachers, because too many students are paying the price whether it be this beating or teachers who sexually prey on their students. Maybe, teachers need to be analyzed regularly for mental health, and when they have a warrant for their arrest, the school needs to be notified through state laws—not federal law.

Why not? Let’s look at this. Americans go to airports everyday only to realize they have been placed on the no-fly list without any justification. Kids that violate age of legal consent laws find themselves tattooed as sexual offenders, even though they didn’t threaten the safety of their partner. Yet, there is nothing that protects children from mentally unstable teachers. Why wasn’t her driver’s license or Social Security number connected to her teacher’s license when the arrest warrant was issued?

I find it insulting. You constantly hear government official pass freedom robbing legislation to protect children. With each week that passes, we find our children have little protection in the public school systems, whether it be indoctrination, sexual freedom, education, and predatory practices of teachers, birth control, or all out abuse of the students. You watch, the second any type of legislation is mentioned to hold teachers to higher mental standards, there would be some liberal group and teachers union stepping in the way. All the while, the kids suffer from the unprofessional behavior in the nation’s classrooms.

Jon Bon Jovi Superman Tonight Performance on American Idol Season 9
Jon Bon Jovi was on hand for the American Idol results show on Wednesday night. They performed “Superman Tonight,” the second single from their current album, The Circle, which was released last year.
The band performed the same song during an appearance on Saturday Night Live in December. The track has reached number 16 on Billboard’s Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks chart.

Asked about the secret to their continued success by Idol host Ryan Seacrest, frontman Jon Bon Jovi answered, “Hard work, good luck . . . good friends.”

The evening also saw performances from Daughtry and from Fantasia Barrino.
Former Idol winner Fantasia opened the show with “Bittersweet,” her new single. Chris Daughtry also made an Idol homecoming. His band sang “September,” a tune from their sophomore album, last year’s Leave This Town.

Tonight on American Idol 2010 the final four sang Songs from Cinema. They each chose a song from a popular movie. Lee DeWyze chose ‘Kiss From A Rose’ which was sang by Seal. The celebrity mentor on the show was singer/actor Jamie Foxx.

Unfortunately, the judges were not thrilled with DeWyze’s performance of ‘Kiss From A Rose.’ Of course, Simon Cowell ended up using his standard Karaoke criticism. I think it is time for Cowell to come up with some new lines. I suppose he doesn’t really have to though since he is leaving the show after this season and we are nearly to the final 3.

Sandra Bullock played the greatest weekend of her career brilliantly, first by turning up at the Razzies on Saturday night to accept the award for Worst Actress (for her role as a crossword-compiler-turned-stalker in All About Steve), then by delivering a delightfully batty acceptance speech at the Oscars where she won Best Actress for The Blind Side, in which she plays a mom who turns a disadvantaged teenager into a football star.

“Did I really earn this, or did I just wear you all down?” she asked her peers at the Academy Awards, before declaring her love for the other nominees in her category: Gabourey Sidibe (“exquisite… beyond words”), Carey Mulligan (“your grace, elegance, beauty and talent make me sick”), Helen Mirren (“I feel like we are family”) and Meryl Streep (“such a good kisser”).

She then thanked everyone who had shown her kindness “when it wasn’t fashionable” and to “everyone who was mean to me”, including George Clooney, who, she alleged, once threw her into a pool.
It was all very charming and good-humoured, and somehow when the tears started to flow as she thanked her mother “for not letting me ride in cars with boys until I was 18”, it was endearing rather than irritatingly self-indulgent.

Certainly, it was not in the same league as Gwyneth Paltrow’s infamous moment of emotional incontinence at the 1999 Oscars. From the second that Jack Nicholson announced her best-actress victory for Shakespeare in Love, she was blubbing.
The waterworks persisted as she ran through her list of benefactors, including her agent (“a beautiful man and a wonderful agent, and, in his case, that is not an oxymoron”), before completely losing it when she thanked her mother for all the love that had been bestowed on her.

It was a memorable performance for all the wrong reasons, something that Paltrow gamely acknowledged the following year when, announcing Kevin Spacey’s best-actor award for American Beauty, she admitted: “You probably remember how wimpy I was.”

Other entertaining outbursts on Oscar night include the one by an over-excited Roberto Benigni, who won Best Actor in 1999 for Life is Beautiful, and who informed the audience, “My body is in tumult”, adding : “I would like to make love to everybody.”

Then there was Sally Field (1985 Best Actress for Places in the Heart) who insisted: “You like me, right now, you like me!”; Cuba Gooding Jr (1997 Best Supporting Actor for Jerry Maguire) who delared: “Everybody I love you. I love you all!”; and director James Cameron who boasted in 1998: “I’m king of the world” when he won for Titanic.

But perhaps the most ill-judged speech came from documentary-maker Michael Moore, (2003 Best Documentary for Bowling For Columbine), whose attack on the President – “Shame on you, Mr Bush, shame on you” – was roundly booed.

American Idol' Hasn't Been Kind To Male Winners

Be careful what you wish for. While "American Idol" fans (and certainly producers) have been itching for what they hope will be the epic showdown between the Davids for months, now that the last woman standing, Syesha Mercado, has been tossed from the locker room, it's worth asking: Do we really want a male "Idol"? Or, better yet, is there a jinx on male "Idol" winners?

Since season-one winner Kelly Clarkson took the mantle, two-thirds of "Idol" winners have been female and, to date, they have all managed to have very respectable (Fantasia Barrino, Jordin Sparks) if not superstar (Carrie Underwood, Clarkson) careers. The men, on the other hand, have had a less-stellar path. In fact, so far, the two male winners, season two's Ruben Studdard and season five's Taylor Hicks, are the only top vote-getters to be dropped from their major-label deals.

The tale of the tape tells it all: Underwood and Clarkson are the undisputed "Idol" champs, with debuts that sold 6.4 million and 5.9 million copies, respectively, according to SoundScan. Studdard nudges Fantasia by just more than 20,000 copies with his 1.78 million-selling debut, but he was dropped from J Records last year after his third album, The Return, sold just over 230,000 copies.

Fantasia, on the other hand, received three Grammy nominations for her second album and is working on her third while prepping to play Celie in the upcoming film adaptation of "The Color Purple" musical. Hicks, who was dropped from J Records in January after just one album, brings up the rear with just more than 700,000 copies of his debut sold, which made him the first "Idol" winner not to go platinum. In fact, his debut sold 40,000 copies less than Sparks' first effort, which was released in November and is currently getting a second wind thanks to the top-five single "No Air," which will likely further boost her album sales.

While it might be too early to say that there's some sort of bad mojo for the top "Idol" men, Michael Slezak, senior writer for EW.com, said it is becoming clear that America is more willing to embrace a female winner singing the traditionally gooey career-launching ballad. "Somehow, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson singing the cheesy 'Idol' anthem as their first single didn't seem to harm their credibility quite as much," he said. "America has a history of embracing their divas singing cheesy ballads, but it's a bit harder for male artists to get radio play with that schlock."

Slezak said he didn't think the career arcs of the two men who've won "Idol" to date are indicative of what might happen to Cook or Archuleta, but he did wonder if the latter's preference for squishy, adult-contemporary ballads might make him a square peg with radio. "[Archuleta] falls into that Clay Aiken sort of square, which is a tough sell at radio," he said. "And when he was doing the Chris Brown song ... he clearly doesn't have it when it comes to contemporary music."

Cook, on the other hand, has proven he can handle rock songs by acts like Switchfoot and Our Lady Peace and even put his own unique spin on tunes by Dolly Parton and Mariah Carey that are out of his comfort zone. "I think it's better for 'Idol' if David Cook wins," Slezak said. "They do need a male artist to win who can sell records."

Geoff Mayfield, Billboard magazine's director of charts/ senior analyst, said he's not willing to go so far as to call male "Idol" winners cursed but rather sees their struggles as part of the traditional hit-or-miss nature of the music business. "I think it might be a coincidence, but it's always down to how much talent does this person have once they've won," he said. "And that's true for any of [the winners]. I believe Jordin Sparks has the wherewithal to hang in there longer than Taylor Hicks because there's more to work with than what Taylor had."

But still, he said, it's a case-by-case call, whether the winner is male or female. For Studdard, who came out of the gate strong, the rapidly declining returns on his second and third albums would likely have gotten him booted from any label, "Idol" crown or not, and the call on Hicks was much easier given the difficulty he had in connecting with a mainstream audience.

"Idol" hasn't been particularly kind to male runner-ups, either, from season-one also-ran Justin Guarini and season two's once-shining star Clay Aiken to season-four former major-label rocker Bo Bice and last season's beatboxing flame-out, Blake Lewis. Though Aiken is back with his fourth studio album and just finished a well-received run on Broadway in "Spamalot," it does seem as if "Idol" fans love voting for the boys but aren't nearly as hyped on buying their records.

And perhaps it's also a coincidence, and likely a function of "Idol" being seven seasons in and ratings being down across the board due to the strike-impacted season, but the numbers for the show this year have consistently been down from previous highs. Though it is still the #1 show on TV, during last week's Tuesday night episode, 21.8 million people tuned in, which was the lowest audience total for the show since season two, the Studdard/Aiken year.

"Winning 'Idol' has never been a [guarantee of future success]," Mayfield said. "It gives any artist who comes from there a familiarity with their fanbase in the comfort of their living rooms, but whether they can parlay that into something bigger depends on how much talent they have at the right time, right place."

‘Idol’ winners to appear on postage stamps

Fans of “American Idol” will get a chance to lick all seven winners of the hit Fox reality show — in the form of a stamp, that is. Fox has announced a partnership between “Idol” and Photostamps.com to release unique collectable postage stamps of past “Idol” winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and Jordin Sparks, along with the upcoming season seven champ.

All 50 U.S. states will get an exclusive design. Every week, Photostamps.com will print 100,000 sheets of each winner, with each state having its own design featured on 2,000 of the sheets. A stamp of season one champ Kelly Clarkson is already available for purchase on Americanidol.com and Photostamps.com. Past season winners stamps will be available for purchase online every Tuesday for the next six weeks.

Proceeds from the “Idol” stamps will benefit the “Idol Gives Back” charity organization, which benefits Children’s Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children’s Health Fund.
