The Good Guys TV Show

The Good Guys TV show premiered tonight on Fox right before the American Idol results show and proved itself to be exactly as billed: good stupid fun. The show revolves around two cop characters who apparently are not too good at their jobs, but somehow managed to stumble and fumble their way through solving major cases.

For instance, in the premiere episode, they set out to find a stolen humidifier, and end up solving a major drug trafficking/murder case. The two main characters are played by Colin Hanks (Tom Hanks’ son) and Bradley Whitford. Whitford is of course the bad cop and Hanks is the good cop. Yes, these are stereotypical cop roles, but the slapstick comedy is first rate and fresh, and the entertainment value was off the charts. My whole family laughed out loud several times.

One caveat: the lock-and-load sound followed by a shot that the show uses to transition between scenes got annoying after the third time. Hopefully we won’t see too much of that.
